9Day Tiger Leaping Gorge and Shudu Lake Trekking Tour

Option A:Start from Lijiang City

Day 01 Arrical Lijiang (D)
Arrive in Lijiang in the morning. Visit Wangulou Pavilion of Lion Hill; the Tree Wells and Local Vegetable Market in Dayan Ancient Town.
 

Day 02 Lijiang-Qiaotou- Tea-horse Trade Guest House (B/L/D)
Sightseeing: the upper Tiger Leaping Gorge Trekking, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the Haba Mountain,
We will depart Lijiang early in the morning to take a 2.5-hour drive to Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the world's deepest gorges tucked between Jade Dragon  Snow Mountain and the Haba Mountain. After crossing the river, we will drive to Qiaotou, where we will start our trek along the high path of this 17-km gorge along the Yangtze River.

In the morning, we will first trek two hours to Naxi Family Guest house, have a good lunch there. Then we will trek another 2-3 hours further up the steep 28-bends and reach the top of 2670m along the way. We will stay at Tea-horse Trade Guest House tonight with great view of the Yulong Snow Mountain and the Gorge, hot shower, clean and comfortable rooms and delicious local food.

Day 03 Tea-horse Trade Guest House/Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge (B/L/D).
Sightseeing: Naxi Village, the Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge.
This morning will be left free for a good rest and visit of the local family in the village. We will start out at noon pass waterfalls and old bridge on the way and down to middle Tiger Leaping Gorge, where less tourist and more wild and narrow.

When you arrive in Tina's Guest house, you will check in and take a break in the guest house, then walk down to the bank of the river to sightsee waterfalls, rocks,, the most narrow part of the Tiger Leaping Gorge, Gate of Gorge(30M wide only), and the One Thread of Sky. When you walk to the bank of the river, you can choose the same way back, or you can climb the Sky Ladder up to the road, but the Sky Ladder is built along the cliff, it is vertical and dangerous. It is a challenge for you in your life.

Day 04 Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge-Lower Tiger Leaping Gorge-Haba Village by Vehicle & Trekking (B/L/D)
Sightseeing: Walnut Grove, the Lower Tiger Leaping Gorge, Heika Village, Haba Village
We will leave the guest house after breakfast and walk to Walnut Grove for much. Afterwards, go on walking to Heika Village which is the end of Tiger Leaping Gorge.

In the morning, transfer to Haba Village. En route, stop from time to time at well-chosen place for trekking in total about 2-3 hours. On the way, sightseeing Naxi villages and Longwan Hui hamlets, overlooking the highest peak of Haba Snow Mountain Range.

Day 05 Haba Village-Shudu Lake By Private Vehicle & Trekking (B/L/D)
After breakfast, transfer to Shudu Lake. En route, stop from time to time at well-chosen place for trekking in total about 5 hours.
On the way, sightseeing Naxi villages, Haba Snow Mountain, Yi villages, forest pastures, alpine plants, Tibetan villages, and alpine lakes. Pay a visit to the mysterious White Water Terrace, the birthplace of the Naxi ethnic minority Dongba Culture.

Day 06 Shudu Lake-Niru Village Trekking  (B/L/D).
Full day trekking 8 hours.
In the morning, enjoy the sun-rise in Shudu Lake. Take a boat to ride across Shudu lake, walk through the virgin forest, alpine pastures, until arrive at Niru Village among mountain valleys.

Day 07 Niru Village-Colorful Waterfall Trekking  (B/L/D).
Full day trekking 4-5 hours
Start your trekking after breakfast, en route, visit Tibetan families, walk through virgin forests, traversing Niru River, go through Niru Pasture until arrive at the amazing Colorful Waterfall.
Enjoy the cooking in the field with tour guide.

Day 08 Colorful Waterfall-Shudu Lake Trekking (B/L/D)
Trekking back to Shudu lake. Enjoy other alpine vegetation, forests of rhododendron and virgin forests. Then transfer to Shangri-la.

Day 09 Shangri-La Visiting  (B/L/D).
In the morning, Tour to visit Napa Lake to sightsee pastures. Pay a visit to Tibetan villages before transferring to visit the Grand Gedan Songzang Lin Tibetan Lama Temple(2nd potala palace about 500 Lama monks living there, built in 1679,site chosen,expanded by Dalai V.). Afterwards, strolling in the ancient town of Shangri-la.

Day 10 Shangri-La Departure By Flight (B)
Free by your own until transfer to the airport to take the flight back to your next destination.
End of service.

B: Start from Shangrila

Day 1  Shangrila Arrival (D)
Take a morning flight to Zhongdian (Shangri-la), meet at airport and transfer to your hotel in downtown area. Visit Dukezong Ancient Town and the Giant Prayer whell in Guishan Hill Park in the afternoon.

Day 2 Shangrila (B+L+D)
Visit the Songzanlin Monastery which was built 300 years ago under the instruction of the 5th Dalai Lama, now there are still 800 monks and 3 living buddhas inside.

Later today, you will visit a local Tibean Family.

Day 3 Zhongdian / Luoji / Hongxing (B+L+D)
After breakfast, drive to the east for 4 hours to Luoji, a big Tibetan village, after lunch, start the trekking tour with horses. Today, you will trek about 10 km from Luoji to Hongxing, another Tibetan village, following the Niru river valley path. The trekking will take about 5 hours.
 

Day 4 Hongxing / Niru (B+L+D)
Continue trekking from Hongxing to Niru, another Tibetan village, following the Niru river valley path. The trekking distance is 9 km and it will take about 4 hours. Have a late lunch in Niru upon arriving. In the afternoon, visit the Niru village elementary school, after dinner, have a bon-fire party with the Tibetan villagers and the students. Stay in local villager's house or camping.

Day 5 Niru / Shudu Lake (B+L+D)
Trekking about 12 km from Niru to Shudu Lake, it will take about 6 hours, have picnic lunch on the way. Set up Camp by the lake. Enjoy a bon-fire party at night. Camping.

Bita Lake, Zhongdian(click to see details)Shudu lake, at an altitude of 3,266 meters above sea level, is located 8 kilometers northwest of the county seat of Zhongdian. It has the largest grassland in Zhongdian, surrounded by mountains on three sides.

Day 6 Shudu Lake / Baishui Terrace/Tiger Leaping Gorge (B+L+D)
Zhongdian / Tiger Leaping Gorge / Middle Gorge
Drive from Shudu Lake to the Natural Bridge Hot Spring to have a good bath, drive 3 hours to Drive to Tiger Leaping Gorge, stops at Baishui Terrace.

Baishui Terrace: At the foot of the Haba Snow Mountain is the mysterious White Field, also called Baishuitai, birthplace of the Naxi ethnic minority Dongba Culture.

 
Day 7 Tiger Leaping Gorge / Lijiang (B+L+D)
The toal hiking journey today is 18 km.

In the early morning, 1 hour walking down the steep cliff to the bank of Jinsha River, worship the dangerours shoal of "Starriness", it is the most narrow part of the gorge, where a tiger can easily jump over the Jinsha River.

1 more hour to climb up the gorge, have a tea break after the exciting voyage. Continue your trekking through trails for 2 km (about 1 hour) to a small ferry, cross the river by boat, climb up the cliff and see the beautiful Daju Town. Enjoy a local lunch in the village, and drive to Lijiang.

Day 8 Lijiang (B+L+D)
Visit the old town of Lijiang, escorted tour to Square Street, Mu Prince Mansion in the morning. Drive to Lashi Lake to visit Naxi Village in the afternoon, take a canoe ride on the lake.

The jiang ancient town of Dayan: The town was built in the late song dynasty and the early Yuan dynasty and was listed by the UNESCO on the list of the world's major cultural heritages in 1997. .

 
Day 9 Departure from Lijiang (B)
Transfer to Lijiang International Airport for returning.
