The waterfall leaps down over a 46-meter-high precipice at the outlet of the Dayinjiang River, 1.5 kilometres away in the west of the county town, diffusing vapour all around. In sunshine, a rainbow rises from among the steaming vapour.

The Buddha image, lying in a cave at the foot of Yunyan Mountain 15 kilometres away from the town in the north, was made in the fourth year of the Kaiyuan era (716 A.D.) during the Tang Dynasty.

The pavilion, a three-storey structure of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) with double bow-shaped brackets supporting the upturning roof-corners, is situated at the foot of Taibao Mountain in the west of Baoshan City.

Jihong Bridge spans over the Lancangjiang River at the place where Shuizhai Township of Baoshan City connects with Shanyang Township of Yongping County. It is the first chain bridge constructed in this province.

Located in the south of the county seat, the Laifeng Hill is regarded as the symbol of Tengchong. Though not very high, it is strategically situated and difficult of access and more beautiful than any other mountain in the area. The hill is covered with luxuriant green trees.

The camellia is one of the ten most famous flowers in China, and ranks first among the eight most famous flowers in Yunnan. Therefore, it is honored as the City Flower of Kunming. The original species of the camellia is the red-flower camellia oleifera in Tengchong.

Usually, the azalea is a shrub or small arbor of one or two meters tall. However, in the Gaoligong Mountains of Tengchong, the azalea has a height of several dozens of zhang (about 3 meters), and produces countless blooms.

The mountain got its name because there are often clouds covering its waist. Yunfeng mountain is a famous Taoist mountain, with its main peak of 2,450 meters above the sea level. On its top is the Yunfeng temple built in the 7th year of Chongzhen of the Ming dynasty (1632AD). Yunfeng temple offers sacrifices for Taoism and Buddhism, which enjoys good prestige in west Yunnan and Southeast Asia.

Tengchong is one of Chinas three major geothermal areas, known as Land Abounding in Geothermal Resources. There are plenty of springs of hot water and hot vapour, called Hot Sea. There are quite a number of hot fields as well. Tengchong is a resort where people can travel, take a bath and have medical treatment.

Tengchong is located between the India Plate and Eurasia Plate, where crustal movements are active, earthquakes frequently happen and volcanoes often erupt. There are about 90 conspicuous cones now.
