From the second century BC to today, Yunnanyi is a military and transportation center in southwest China, ConnectingChengdu, Kunming, Tibet and Myanmar, India.Over 2100 years, Three important roads in history whichare: Wu Chi Road (Chongqing - Kunming - Yunnanyi); Ling Guan Road (Chengdu - Yunnanyi); Boonen Road (Yunnanyi - Dali - Myanmar). Tea trade was very famous.During WWII, Burma Road and the Stilwell Road (China -India) opened to traffic, Automobile replacing animaltransport. Today, horses and mules only used villagesnearby .

All of our climbing programs and adventures include equipment (including climbing shoes), at least two guides, and transportation. If you are bringing bikes with you please advise us if you need a vehicle with a bike carrier. Our overnight programs are also priced to include accomodation and meals. This hike follows the old tea-horse road (souther silk road) north of Dali. We begin hiking from FengYu, a series of small agricultural villages set a lovely valley. We will pass the QingYuan Buddhist cave, and hike 1000 vertical meters into the Flower Valley, which has been settled by Yi minority peoples.

Shaping Market, (About 30km north of Dali). Shaping Town offers a lively weekly market with plenty of local color. The market starts early. A great chance to see local farmers out in force and literally watch plenty of horse trading. Not much to buy (unless you are a farmer) but gives a feel for like in a small country town.

Xinhua Village locates in the northwest of Heqing County, 7 km away from the center of the county and 12 km from the Lijiang airport. The Xinhua Village is a typical one where the Bai people live in a compact community. It has a population of 4,782 in 1,103 doors, of which 98.5% are the Bai ethnic people.

Combine a trip to Erhai Lake with a visit to the Wase Market on the eastern shore of the lake. Wase is a traditional and conservative Bai town with a weekly market aimed at both townpeople and nearby farmers. The market offers an interesting look at life in a quiet country town.

Stone Carving Jianchuan has a long history of stone carving.Influenced by the grotto of Shizhongshan Mountain,the crafts of stone carving is very skillful,especially in the area of Meiyuan and Yangcen around Jianyang Town.The most outstanding stone carving artwares here are thousands of stone lions in Manxianlin Qianshishan Mountain.The magnificent scene is sure to amaze you.

Yans Compound in Xizhou is the most representative of Bai-style residences, about 13 kilometers (8.08 miles) from Dali City. The compound covers an area of about 3,066 square meters (0.76 acres), built around the 1920s. As a whole, it is divided into four parts and each part is cleverly linked together.

Xiao Putuo Island is a little island in the Erhai Lake. You can rent a small boat to visit the Lake and if you are lucky you can see the cormorants on the lake. Mr. Chinas Son Cultural Exchange Cafe can organize Special trip to visit the fisherman and the cormorants fishing.
