The Longmashan Mountain

Located in the northeast of Hongta District, this scenic region comprises the Longma Palace, the Longmujing River, the Longma Stone Town, the 999-step Heavenly Ladder, the Bullring, the Game Land, the Race Course, the White Dragon Pond, the White Dragon Temple, and the Dongfeng Reservoir. The scenic region consists mainly of natural scenes which are breathtaking and grandiose, and is inhabited mainly by the honest and energetic Yi Nationality. Visitors will find it difficult to tear themselves away from the Yi Nationality.

The White Dragon Spring gushes out from the cliff of the White Dragon Valley and runs down like a real white dragon surging in water. The local people are familiar with the legends about White Dragon King and Goddess Yuan.

The forest covers an area of over 300 mu (20 hectares), and is like a fairy land, peaceful and quiet. The White Dragon Spring winds its way to the White Dragon Palace where it divides into two streams. One runs along the valley in the west and joins the Yuxi River, the other winds its way upwards, forming a wonderful phenomenon of flowing upwards. It is said the latter was dug by White Dragon King while riding his horse along this route.
