
About the Manting Park
Manting Park, previously the royal park of Dai King, has more than 1,300 years of history. It is situated in the southeast suburb of Jing Hong city and distant 2 km away from the downtown.
Manting Park, covering an area of 400 mu ( 1 mu = 660 sq.m), consists of eight scenery spots: ethnic cultural plaza, peacock garden, tropical orchid garden, fish-escape lake, Buddhist shrine, monumental trees and tea house of Dai. The main entrance is in the south of the park.
In the centre of the ethnic cultural plaza stands a monumental bronze of Premier Zhou, who participated in the Water-Splashing festival in 1961. Here various beautiful dances and songs of Dai people start a day’s program and then, followed by native folks’ activities and amusement water splashing gala brings to everyone.
About the Songs and Dances Bonfire Evening Party of the "Night of Mekong River" in Manting Park
“Lancang – Mekong River Night” – songs and dance are the subject activity Manting Park holds every night. You will feel yourself in the primitive life style lived by people along the river and overwhelmed in the cultural atmosphere of various ethnic people and their folks.
At the party, a wide range of food is provided free of charge: authentic tea of Xishuang Banna – the Puer tea, home-made rice wine, Dai flavor barbecue and fresh tropical fruit. You can also learn to make Dai barbecue or choose to join in the floating lantern event. Finally all the tourists are invited to join in the group dance of ethnic people, singing or drinking by the fire, enjoying a fantasy night in Xishuang Banna.
On the party,tourists can tasts famous Pu'er tea,drink the Dai home-made rice wine,or have the Dai barbecue and seasonal fruits,can appreciate singing and dancing performances,and experence the primitive life,folk culture and customs of ethnic groups and southeast Asian lifestyle,finally can dance with local ethnic people hand in hand ,around the bonfire.
