Geographical Location

Shidian County (施甸县; pinyin: Shīdiàn Xiàn) is located in Baoshan, Yunnan, China. Its seat is the large community Dianyang (甸阳镇). It is between east longitude 98 ° 54 '~ 99 ° 21', north latitude 24 ° 16 '~ 25 ° 00'. East boders on Changning County across the Kuke River, south is next to Lincang city, west is opposite to Longling county across Nujiang River, Longyang district is in the north.

Introduction

Shidian county is in the south of Banshan, the area of Shidian county is 2009 square kilometres. Its county center is 60 Km from Baoshan city government, and 654 Km from the capital Kunming city. Its seat is the large community Dianyang (甸阳镇). Shdian county has a population of 0.33 million.

Shidian county’s jurisdiction is over 5 towns, 8 townships: Xunyang Town(甸阳镇),Youwang Town(由旺镇), Yaoguan Town(姚关镇), Taiping Town(太平镇),Renhe Town(仁和镇), Wanxing Town(万兴乡), Bailang Yi and Bulang Towship(摆榔彝族布朗族乡), Jiufang Township(酒房乡), RichengTownship(旧城乡), Mulaoyuan Bulang and Yi township(木老元布朗族彝族乡), Laomai Township(老麦乡), Heyuan Township(何元乡), Shuichang Township(水长乡).

Ethnic Groups

According to the Shidian County Almanac (1997:544), ethnic Bulang (autonyms Wu 乌、Aiwu 埃乌、Ben people 本族) are found in Mulaoyuan Township 木老元乡 and Bailang Township 摆榔乡; in the villages of Hazhai 哈寨、Upper Mulaoyuan 上木老元、Lower Mulaoyuan 下木老元、Dazhong 大中、Jianshan 尖山;and in Dazhai 大寨,[7] Doupo Village 陡坡村, Yaoguan Township 姚关镇.
