Laomudeng Village in Fugong County,Nujiang

  1. Laomudeng-Church-in-Fugong-County

Laomudeng village in Fugong in home to 180 families. Laomudeng is from the Nu ethnic language and means "a place people like to visit". The church here is the biggest in the area and has a capacity of 500 people.

According to the Tourism Administration of Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, CBN and around 100 radio stations jointly ran the campaign of “Hand in Hand for Beautiful China 2014: China’s Most Beautiful Villages and Towns” in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province, in mid-November. On this event, Nujiang’s Laomudeng Village was listed as one of the most beautiful villages in China for its primitive and unsophisticated ethnic culture, majestic natural landscapes, unique ethnic customs and clean environment. Especially, it won the award of “Best Cultural Village”. Laomudeng Village is situated in Pihe Township, Fugong County, Nujiang Prefecture.

Located on a slope belt in the eastern bank of the Nujiang River, Laomudeng stands between Biluo Snow Mountains and Gaoligong Mountains in eastwest, with the Nujiang River flowing southwards across them. Laomudeng boasts green mountains, clear rivers and picturesque landscapes. Against the backdrop of fast-growing modern economy and society, it still maintains Nu people’s unique architectures, featuring stilt, wooden tile, bamboo fence and wood floor. Laomudeng is also the best location to take photos of such landscapes as Nujiang River Canyon, Gaoligong Mountains, Huangguan Mountains and Peak Chennault. Therefore, a photographic base has been set up here by Kunming Photographers Association.
