As the grandest festival of Hani people in Honghe Prefecture, Ang Ma Tu is usually spent on the end of the year, so it’s something equal to the Spring Festival of Chinese Han. It’s a kind of sacrificial event and ceremony of Hanis to pray for bumper harvests and prosperity in the future.
The highlight of Ang Ma Tu is the Street Banquet which was dubbed Kiness World as“the longest banquet in the world”in 2004. For the special banquet, each family would make every effort to prepare favorable Hani delicacies. People will invite each other to enjoy the home-made dishes and express best wishes to each other. The Banquet is sometimes as long as 700 meters.
