Where is Stone Forest?

Stone Forest is just 80 km southeast of Kunming in Shilin County, in Yunnan Province. It is only a 2hour drive from Kunming downtown and is commonly said that a visit there without visiting the stone forest is "a waste of time". How to get to Stone Forest from Kunming

There are a lot of regular buses departing from Kunming East Coach Station (located at the East 3rd Ring Road area) to the Stone Forest. Buses depart every 20-30 minutes in peak season and about 40 minutes in low season from the station. The journey takes about 2 hours. You should get off at the terminal, then change to a minibus to get to Stone Forest Scenic Area. Be noticed that there are buses heading for Shilin County and Stone Forest Scenic Area, make sure you get on a right bus.
Also, there are Tourist Special Express buses departing from Kunming Railway Station from 10:10 am to 7:10 pm every day. It departs almost every 30 minutes and it costs about RMB 25.
