The craft of making cloth from furs, linen, silk and cotton etc has been passed down from generation to generation among Naxi minority. The clever and deft Naxi women all know how to make cloth. Usually, anyone of them grasps several ways or skills for weaving. Most clothes of the family are made by their hands. Till 1939, there had been already 700 wooden spinning wheels in the Dayan Town of Lijiang.
Major woven products include shawls, scarves, traditional costumes, satchels and handbags etc. Some wears made by Naxi ladies have been in vogue among visitors especially female visitors to Lijiang.
