Ru porcelain makes its way to the Chinese capital

There was an exhibition of Tinghuaiyao Ru porcelain, from a porcelain workshop in the city of Ruzhou, Henan province, at the Glorious Treasures Studio, in Beijing, Oct 20 - 26, with 100 works in a series of colors on display, many of which have won national awards.

Tinghuaiyao, which is on the national cultural heritage list, gets its name from Li Tinghuai, aged 63, a national Ru porcelain master who born into a porcelain making family in Ruzhou. Li wanted to show his porcelain innovations at the exhibition and explained that antique works can be adapted to modern life, without losing their classical features.

The exhibition site was established in 1672 and has seen many exhibitions, including a spice bag made from traditional herbs, porcelain, and a Yixing enameled clay teapot. The exhibition itself was organized by the Culture Ministry's Office of Cultural Heritage, the Henan Culture Dept, and Glorious Treasures and attracted many Chinese and foreign experts, tourists, and porcelain lovers.

Taking part in the show's opening ceremony were Zhou Heping, a former vice-culture minister, Ma Wenhui, vice-president of China's Cultural Heritage Association, Li Huaiting, and members of Tsinghua University's Arts & Design Academy, the Henan Cultural Bureau, and the Ruzhou government.(From China Toursism News)
