Urban Kunming to see biggest farmers' market in Nov.

DonghuaXinying Farmers' Market, the biggest farmers' market in urban Kunming, is to start trial operation by late November. The commercial tenant recruitment started yesterday(October 30).

The market is located in Panlong District of Kunming. As a opened market, it covers a floor area of 16,000 square meters, with 387 shops and 536 stalls. It is divided into 12 areas, namely the vegetable and fruit area, general merchandise area, deli area, dry cargo area, aquatic product area, etc.

The market is also equipped with a parking lot of 1,200 square meters, which can provide hundreds of cars parking.

Comparing to other farmers' markets, the new market has a wider fire fighting access." The fire fighting access in the market is 5.5 meters’ wide. Fire fighting trucks are available to drive around the market." Wang Bin, a principle of the market said.

Besides, all range of the market is covered by an electronic monitoring system which helps to handle steal cases or consumption disputes.

There are also a specialized sewage treatment area and a vehicle cleaning area in the market. Sewage lines are laid under the market. According to Wang, the market was built with an investment of over 40 million yuan, among which, sewage treatment equipments take up more than 400,000 yuan.

Wang said, vendors engaging organic vegetables or livestock would enjoy a priority in bidding shop and stall, so do the vendors selling special agricultural products.
