Yunnan's Xie Zhi broke national records in men's swimming

:00:31 munites, a new record for men's 100-meter breaststroke across the whole country was created by Xie Zhi, an experienced swimming athlete representing Yunnan in the 12th Chinese National Games in Liaoning province on September 5.

This is actually the second time Xie Zhi has created the national record in men's swimming in the national games. Four years ago the same national games was held in Shandong province. Xie Zhi broke the national record at that time, achieving at 1:00:73 minutes in the breaststroke competition.

Xie Zhi rewrote the national records by himself in the men's swimming even though he endured a lot of hardships within the past training procedure.

"I defeated myself,"Xie Zhi said. After he won the champion in Guangzhou Asian Games in 2010, he lost himself and fell in confusion for a time.

How could he succeed although he achieved the 5th place in the semifinal of the national games this year? "My strength is in the ability to sprint that may appear in the late course of the swimming," Xie Zhi said.

In the last 25 meters of the swimming competition, Xie Zhi swam half a body ahead of his competitor in swimming lane. Yunnan's audience watching his performance in natatorium involuntarily cried aloud and felt very excited:" He won! He won!"

Xie Zhi is 26 years old now. He has participated in men's swimming nationwide for many times as a Yunnan player.

"I may retire after taking part in this national names, " Xie told the journalist, "but I haven't planned what I'd like to do in future. I may carefully consider when the games finished."

Xie's coach, Yin Wenju said that he would respect Xie's choice to do what he prefers to do. "We will talk over Xie's retirement together and make a final decision," Yin said.
