Yunnan people memorized Run Run Shaw for his education contributions

Yesterday(January 7), many people mourned Shao Yifu(Run Run Shaw) on internet. Some even went out to take photos of teaching buildings that were donated by him in Yunnan.

Shao Yifu, a Hong Kong entertainment mogul and philanthropist, died at the age of 107 yesterday.

As a well-known philanthropist who also made contributions to Yunnan's education industry, Mr. Shao's death brought sorrow to Yunnan people.

According to a related survey issued by Yunnan Provincial Education Department, Shao Yifu totally invested 150 million Hong Kong dollars to build teaching buildings in universities and in high schools in past 24 years in the province.

In all, Yunnan's 115 prefectures, cities and counties have built "Yi Fu" teaching buildings, which generally covered 488,400 square meters.

In Kunming, Yunnan University, Yunnan Agricultural University, and Yunnan University of Finance and Economics owned teaching buildings that were donated by Shao.

And other middle schools that were built teaching buildings with the donation of Shao Yifu mainly include Guangnan County No. 5 Middle School in Wenshan prefecture, Dali Branch Middle Shool Affiliated to Yunnan Normal University in Dali prefecture, Dehong Prefecture National No.1 Middle School, Shidian County No. 1 Middle School in Baoshan city, Nujiang National Middle School.
