Confucian Culture Festival has been held in Jianshui County, Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan on 28 September since 2005. Jianshui Confucian Temple was initially built in 1285 during the Yuan dynasty, which is well-preserved now, and a number of activities are held to show the time-honored culture and rich and varied tourism resources in Jianshui every year, including worshiping Confucius ceremony, a tour to the Confucian Temple, art performances, local music performances, costume parades and so on.

In addition, the festival also holds shows and exhibitions, like lantern shows, calligraphy and painting exhibitions, cultural tourism product exhibitions and trade fairs.

Through Confucian Culture Festival of Jianshui, the local people absorb the essence of Confucian spirit, which is characterized by exerting and striving hard without any let up and advancing with the times, which plays an important role in promoting the development in Honghe area. Through Confucian Culture Festival of Jianshui, Jianshui is forged into an international tourist city by promoting its development in historical culture and tourist culture.

Jianshui has a long history of civilization; it has 1200 years of city history. For more than 1000 years, Confucian culture and the frontier nation culture blend to form a unique border Confucian culture. Jianshui Temple was built in the Yuan dynasty (1285), it ranks top for its existing size, architectural level and well-preserved beauty. To carry forward the frontier Confucianism and Taoism culture, Jianshui County started to hold Confucius festival since 2005. Through large parties, large Confucius-sacrifice activities, tourism and cultural activities, the long history and culture of Jianshui and its rich tourism resources have been exhibited.

The last two Confucius culture festivals: The first China Red River • Jianshui Confucius cultural festival in 2005 was one of the branch sessions of CCTV live Confucius-sacrifice activities. Combined with “2005 global joint Confucius-sacrifice” activities, the activity was divided as: Opening ceremony of the series activities, Confucius-sacrifice activity, ideas forum of "Confucian culture and harmonious Jianshui", folk dance performances, tour and entertainment programs of "ancient city" and exhibition.

In 2006, the city foundation ceremony of Yunan Red River•Jianshuiwas the second Confucius culture Festival. They held large party of "Millennium Jianshui, blending of Confucianism and Buddhism", celebration ceremony and large tour performance, "Confucius-sacrifice on both sides", Fireworks party, "Golden Linan" large commodity exhibition, "Southern Zou Lu" culture commodities street and "dream back to Jianshui" ridotto. They cast the "Genna" clock, launched the arts and calligraphy exhibition commemorating the 1200-year construction of Jianshui city, and awarded "top ten historic events and cultural celebrities in Jianshui".
