Tour group fares to foreign countries may rise 30% to 50% after the Chinese National Day( October 1st), according to local travel agencies in Kunming.
By October, a group tour trip to America will be 30,000 yuan in minimum, with several thousands yuan up.
A new Tourism Law to be implemented on October 1st has attributed to the price growth. Based on the law, guiding tourists to shops and charging for some extra costs excluded in the total tour fees will not be allowed.
Travel agencies used to make profits through those customs. Once forbidden, travel agencies have to charge more excursion fares to stay profitable. According to a travel agency straff, the outbound tourism fares will be increased after the National Day without a doubt.
Now, some foreign tourism routes to countries such as Europe, America, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia in September have been booked up. Many tourists managed to catch the last minute for relatively cheap outbound tours.
A Kunming resident applauses for the Tourism Law, but she also looks forward to more cost-efficient group tours.
