Highlight of Music----Nie'er Music Foundation of Yunnan
The headquarter of the foundation is in Yuxi and registered in Yunnan. The foundation is currently funded by various sources such as the local government, enterprises and social donations.
People’s Musician----Nie'er
Yuxi, a fascinating land resting in the middle part of Yunnan, has long been regarded as the Home of Nie’er, the Home of Yunnan Tobacco and the Home of Huadeng Opera.
Born in Yuxi, Nie’er, the music composer of the National Anthem for the People’s Republic of China, has been entitled as the People’s Musician. He liked folk music very much and often listened to his mother singing in his childhood. He studied the Yunnan Operas, Huadeng Operas, and Taoist Music. He took part in various performances while at school in Kunming.
He was enlisted in the Bright Moon Opera Co. ltd in Shanghai as a violinist in July 1930 and began his career as a composer. His works include the Song of Port Workers, the Song of Broad Road, the New Female, the Marching Song of the Just and Brave Army, inspiring awe and displaying the spirit of the Chinese people, being loved by many. The Marching Song of the Just and Brave Army became and has been the national anthem of the P.R.C..
