Drive 2 hours from Lijiang to Qiaotou Town,enjoy the upper Yangtze River Valley on the way.
Start the hiking from Qiaotou Elementary School, arrive at Naxi Family Guesthouse in Zhongnuoyu Village(2hours hiking) and have lunch there.
After lunch, continue the hiking to the 28 Zigzag Turns trail(2hours hiking),finish the trekking of the 28 turns, you will have a wonderfull view of the Tiger Leaping Gorge and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from a far.
Trek 1 hour to Yachaguo Village and stay in Tea Horse Hostel.

After breakfast, trek 1.5 hours to Bendiwan Village and take a break at Halfway Hostel where you will have a nice view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
Trek along the small trail on the cliff, visit Guanyin Temple and Guanyi Waterfall on the way(1.5hours).
Arrive in the Bamboo Forest,trek down to Tina's Hostel in the Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge(1hour).
After lunch in Tina's Hostel, continue the hiking down to the Middle Rapids(2 hours) which is the narrowest part of Tiger Leaping Gorge.
Trek along the Yangtze River from the Middle Rapids to Hetaoyuan Village and stay at Saen's Hostel.

You will leave the guesthouse after breakfast and have a short driving to the lower section of the Tiger Leaping Gorge, walk along the road to Xincun Village, have a short rest at Halong Men Inn faceing to Daju Town at the bank of the Jinsha River.Start the easy trekking to Haba Village along the small trail, where you will spend the night.
 
After arrival, we will take a gentle walk along hills around the village, from which you can get a spectacular view of the surrounding snow peaks. The whole trekking is along the Haba Snow Mountain, which stands by the Jinsha River and face to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, 120km southeast of Shangri-La, with its main peak of 5,396m. The attraction of the Sanba Tourist Area is attributed to the towering peaks of the Haba Snow Mountain and its alpine moraine lake, endless tracks of azalea flowers and cluster of waterfalls cascading down snow-covered cliffs.
 
--Haba Village is an interesting township beneath the Haba Snow Mountain. The local minorities include Naxi, Hui (Muslim) and Yi peoples, as well as the odd Tibetan. It is primarily of interest to hikers and those who enjoy exploring remote and more traditional villages. The town along the road is inhabited by a small number of Han people plus a mix of local minorities, the area above the road towards the mountain is home to two Hui (Muslim) villages, each of which with its own mosque. Further up the mountain is an Yi village. Further down the valley, beneath the road is a lush agricultural area inhabited by Naxi people.

From Haba village, we need horses to take our bags and all the camping equipments up to the mountain. We just carry a small bag with some food and drinks, and it takes about five hours and half to hike up to the Lake, through villages, meadows ,forests and small rivers. Black Sea Lake, with an elevation of 4170m,is in front of the Haba Mountain, and you can see the reflection of the Haba in water just from the camping site.
 
There are some small lakes, grasslands and mountain passes in the area near the Lake, so we spend the day here to walk around the lakes and climb up to the mountain passes to get acclimatized to the altitude here. There are different kinds of the flowers and plants which grow in the area, esp. azalea, and you will see the different sceneries in different seasons.

The tale told us that Haba Snow Mountain and the Jade Dragon Mountain are two brothers fighting over their girlfriend Jinsha river. Haba Snow Mountain’s peak is about 5396 meters above sea level. The Jade Dragon Mountain boasts with wild fauna, such as monkeys, boars and even snow leopards. The younger brother accused Haba Snow Mountain for letting Jinsha escaped.

Today,wnjoy the sunrise view of Haba Snow Mountain from the Base Camp in the early morning.After breakfast, we will hike from the Base Camp to Heihai lake (Black Sea) around 2 hours. We hike through a dense forest, cross mountain rivers and pass waterfalls. You will meet local people who are still roaming in the mountain trails and looking for Chinese Medicine herbs.During this hike, we ascend about 1500 meters, so you need a good physical condition to hike all the way to the top. Luckily the mules will carry our camping gear and if you’re tired they can carry you for a while as well.

You can see the snowcapped summit of Haba mountain all year around. During May and June, the mountain is filled with Orchids and Lilies. With its magical views and stunning flora, these 4200-meter high mountain lakes are probably the most fairytale like campsite in Yunnan.

In the afternoon, we hike along the original forest down and arrive in Haba Village for one more night stay. It is around 7-8 hours hiking today but the scenery is so fantestic.

Drive around 1 hour we arrive in Baishuitai which  is the cradle of the Dongba culture of the Naxi people. It is said that the founding father of Dongba culture settled here to spread his beliefs on his way back from Tibet. On the eighth day of the second month of the lunar calendar, that is, the day when the founding father held his founding ceremony, people of various groups congregate round the terrace, singing and dancing and slaughtering chickens to pay tribute.

After Baishuitai, you will drive about 100 Km more to Shangri La. Then relax in Shangri La Old Town and enjoy Tibetan’s life. Or we also can transfer back to Lijiang directly.
