Kunming is attracting more and more South Koreans have moved to the city over the past 20 years with the temperate climate, livable pleasant environment and slow life pace. They study, work and live here. For most of them, Kunming is their second hometown.

Recently, capturing black-headed seagulls for a photo has been a buzz on the Internet, a result in citizens’ worries about the long-term migrant to the city during the chilly winters. The seagullshave traveled to Kunming from Siberia to spend the winter since 1985. Kunming Bird Association proposes to make laws to protect the sea gulls. Anyone who violates the exsiting anumail protection rules may get fined.

The airport in the city is about 50 minutes' dirve from the urban areas. Now, Kunming is building the south ring expressway around the city. It is estimated that the expressway will be put into service on June 30 next year. By then the traffic of freight vans will be reduced on the expressway to relieve the traffic pressure of the urban areas.

The further communications between China, Kunming for example, and the Britain has been developed after Tina Redshaw, the consul-general of the British Consulate General in Chongqing, met with deputy mayor of Kunming. "Week of Britain" is scheduled to be held in Kunming in 2014.
